I’m Megan Ann Wilson aka @shegotgame. I’m a Canadian designer, stylist, creative director and brand consultant with over 10 years of experience specializing in the intersection of style, sport, sneakers and sustainability.
My professional athlete clientele includes NBA, NFL, MLB and overseas athletes. I’ve also served as a creative director and stylist on fashion projects for the Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Nike, Air Jordan and Reebok. I consult and collaborate on brand direction, design, curation and strategy for major companies and agencies.
I’m also a featured athlete fashion and branding expert for outlets like CNN, GQ, Esquire, High Snobiety, Bleacher Report and NBATV and I’ve written for outlets like The Guardian, ESPN, Men’s Fitness and Complex.
In 2019, I joined The Veneka, a sustainable fashion capsule wardrobe start-up as the lead stylist as well as the head of design and product development. I’ve released two collaborations with Nike and Cultivator that benefitted the ACLU.
Why start a newsletter and podcast?
I grew up in an environmentalist, politically active family in which my brothers and I were always encouraged to speak our minds, stand up for others and to participate in discourse related to our respective fields and interests.
For quite a few years, I didn’t know how I would bring in my sustainable, ethical ideals into my work with pro athletes and mega brands until I really dove into fashion and footwear production and design.
Intentional, ethical design was the final part of my career I was missing and for the past few years I’ve been building my expertise in the field. I wrestled with my own imposter syndrome how I should present my opinions and findings, but eventually realized it’s time to do more than just Twitter threads and instagram stories.
